How did DRAGON BALL become popular?
Akira Toriyama was born in Aichi Prefecture and made his debut as a manga artist in 1978 with Weekly Shonen Jump’s work Wonder Island.
Later, in 1980, Dr. SLUMP began to be serialized and was made into an animated series, which gained great popularity.
DRAGON BALL which began serialization in 1984, depicts the story of the main character Son Goku as he battles various enemies and grows through the use of special moves such as Kamehameha and became a huge hit with a total circulation of over 260 million copies.
Two years after the serialization began, the series was adapted into an animated TV series that was broadcast in more than 80 countries and regions around the world. In addition to anime and video games, a live-action version was made into a movie in Hollywood, winning many fans around the world.

DRAGON BALL New series DRAGON BALL DAIMA was announced at a panel at the world’s largest pop culture festival New York Comic Con!
DRAGON BALL which also marks the 40th anniversary of the film, is slated for a worldwide rollout in the fall of 2024!
