What happened in mid-2020
We are halfway through 2020 and how are you all doing? The news this year was not all good for us. In Japan, in addition to the news about the COVID-19, the Olympics were postponed and more than 60 people died due to heavy rainfall. In Japan, besides the spring, summer, autumn and winter seasons, we have a rainy season. The rainy season usually starts in early June and ends in July, when the total rainfall for a month is high. However, due to the combination of a rainy season front and a “linear precipitation zone” that produces heavy rainfall at the same location, record-breaking rainfall occurs in many places across the country, causing flooding and landslides.
Emergency warnings for heavy rainfall said to be a once-in-a-decade event, have been issued for Kyushu, Nagano, and Gifu prefectures. Each and every one of us is required to take action to protect our lives.
It may be tempting to think only about the bad things, but it is also a good opportunity to take a look at ourselves.
Let’s reconsider what we eat and try to live a regular life to strengthen our immune system! Our one action can lead to the protection of our loved ones or someone else’s loved ones. It is important to take care of our own health as well as our actions. I hope that everyone in the world can stay healthy and happy as we move into August and the summer season begins.
